Font generator

Instagram uses its own single system font that you cannot change, so this tool does not touch it. Instead it swaps your letters for different letters. Unicode contains complete duplicate alphabets that were added in 2001 so mathematicians could write equations without images. A script ? is not a styled a. It is its own character with its own code point, the same way é or 中 or an emoji is its own character. Nothing about the font is touched, which is exactly why it survives a copy and paste into an app you do not control.

Instagram will not load a typeface you supply. It draws whatever characters you give it using its own font. Since these are characters rather than styling, there is nothing for Instagram to strip. It sees a valid character and draws it, the same way it draws Japanese, Arabic and emoji.

Not the @handle. Every platform gives you two names: the @handle you log in and get found by, and the display name people read on your profile. Handles only take plain text, no fancy fonts, so a styled one will not save. Display names, bios, nicknames and posts do take these styles, and that is what this tool is for.

Two reasons. Either your device has no font installed covering those characters, which is common with runic, Gothic and Coptic, or the style has genuine holes in Unicode. Small caps has no q or x, because it was built for phoneticians who had no use for either. Superscript has no q. Subscript is missing nine letters. This page tests your device directly and marks any style it cannot draw, and flags the missing letters in your specific text.

No, and this matters more than most people realise. Search treats ? and j as unrelated characters, on the platform and in Google. A styled name will not be found by someone typing it normally. If you are building anything you want discovered, keep the name plain and style something else.

No, and nearly every font generator gets this wrong. Blackletter is the dense medieval European script most people mean when they say gothic, and Unicode encodes it inside the maths block as Fraktur. Gothic is a separate 4th century alphabet devised by Bishop Wulfila to write the Gothic language, now extinct, and Unicode encodes it separately at U+10330 as a historic script. Both are on this page, labelled correctly. If you want the tattoo look, you want blackletter.

Instagram, X, Discord, Facebook, TikTok, Roblox, YouTube and Snapchat all accept Unicode styled text in the field people actually care about, and this page previews all eight. The field differs by app: an Instagram or TikTok bio, an X display name, a Discord server nickname, a Roblox display name, a YouTube channel name, a Snapchat display name. Facebook is the odd one, because its real name policy rejects styled text in the name field while bios, posts and comments are fine. Roblox is the other, because it runs a content filter over display names, so some styles save and some come back rejected.

No. These are characters, not typefaces. There is no font file, no weights, no kerning, no licence, and no way to hand them to a printer or place them in Illustrator.
