How to Download Google Fonts

Downloading Google Fonts takes about ten seconds. Pick a font, click Download, and you’ll get a ZIP file with TTF files for every weight in the family. The fonts work on Mac, Windows, Linux, mobile, the web, and inside any design or office application that supports custom fonts. Most designers start with sans serif fonts or serif fonts for everyday work.

Find the font and click Download

Browse the Google Fonts library, click any font tile to land on its detail page, then click the Download button at the top of that page. You’ll get a ZIP file containing TTF files for every weight in the family, plus a copy of the SIL Open Font License.

Unzip the file

Extract the ZIP. You’ll see a folder of TTF files (one per weight) and an OFL.txt file. The TTF files are the actual fonts. The OFL.txt is the license, which you can keep with your project files for reference.

Install on your system

On Mac, double-click each TTF file and click Install Font in the Font Book window that opens. On Windows, right-click each TTF and select Install. Once installed, the fonts appear in every application that uses system fonts: Word, Photoshop, Figma, Illustrator, Sketch, and so on.

Where do Google Fonts get downloaded to on my computer?

When you click Download, the ZIP file lands in your default downloads folder. After you unzip it and install the TTF files, the actual fonts get copied into your system's fonts directory: /Library/Fonts on Mac or C:\Windows\Fonts on Windows.

Do I need an account to download Google Fonts?
