Is the Pearl Stock easy to write on?
Yes, the Pearl Stocks are easy to write on with a ballpoint pen or marker.
How water resistant is the Pearl Stock?
As the Pearl Stock is coated it will be slightly water resistant (although not waterproof).
Will the Pearl Stock change the colour of my design at all?
Yes, the colour of your design will be affected by the paper colour. Stronger colours such as Pink will affect print colour more than lighter colours such as Silver and Oyster.
Is the Pearl Stock tough?
The Pearl Stocks do feel slightly more flexible and bendable when compared to the same thickness white stock, even though they are the same thickness.
We also offer an 18PT Pearl Oyster and 32PT Mega Thick Pearl card for extra thickness and strength.

- Bleed Area
- Trim Area
- Safe Area
Bleed Area refers to images that extend to the very edges of a design. To prevent an unwanted white border from showing at the edge of your design, or for the design to appear slightly off-center, be sure to extend any background colors or design elements all the way to the edge of bleed (.125” past the trim on all four sides).
Trim Area refers to the amount of the image that will appear on your finished product. These areas will also be marked with ‘cut lines’ on your proof and are where we aim to cut your card.
Safety Area in most cases refers to 1/8 of an inch inside of the Trim Area. For thicker papers 20pt and up or wooden papers the Safety Area increases ¼ of an inch inside the Trim Area. we strongly recommend you keep important aspects of your design such as text and logos well inside of the Safety Area, otherwise, they may be cut off.
Design Considerations for Pearl Stock
Pearl stocks are very versatile when it comes to design. We do recommend that you leave large amounts of whitespace, as areas of solid ink coverage will dim the sparkle effect of the paper.
Please note, while lighter Pearl shades like Pearl Oyster and Pearl Silver will be suitable for printing many light colours, if you choose a coloured Pearl option you will see more of a colour shift, and some ink colours may not be visible. An example of this would be to print a light pink shade over the Pearl Pink stock - this would likely not be visible due to lack of contrast between the ink colour and the paper. You might be able to print the same light pink colour on the Recycled Pearl Silver and see no contrast issues.
If you are concerned with the colours you are using on a Pearl stock, make sure you leave “Online PDF Proof” selected when placing your order, so a member of our Prepress department can review the file for potential issues.
