The New Black is In.
What is Premium Black? What makes it so unique?
Premium Black is a range of cards developed by Jukeboxprint.com – the most premium and unique cards on the market.
All black cardstock, with foiling and embossing finish. Classy and simple, understated yet bold. These cards are for anyone looking for high end designer look, with a style that will be noticed.
Remember, the card is black – so we cannot print ink on black. Any artwork on the black card will need to be foiled or embossed/debossed.
There are three card stock options available with the Premium Black range:
16PT Jet Black Card
Our 16pt Jet Black paper is acid free, lignin free, and made of 30% post consumer waste. It has an intense black colour and has a creamy texture that is smooth to the touch. Being acid free and lignin free means this paper stock will never lose its crispness and its fibers will not weaken overtime.

20PT Charcoal Black Card
Our 20pt Charcoal Black paper is made of 30% post consumer waste and its production is carbon neutral. It has a rough and grainy texture and comes with the seal of approval from a number of environmental organisations; namely the FSC, Green Seal, Green-e, Carbon Neutral Plus, and PCF. This stock is coloured with a gentler dye compared to the other two black card stocks.

24PT Smooth Suede Card
Our 24pt smooth suede paper is made of 20% post consumer waste and an additional 40% is recycled fiber from other sources. Its unparalleled thickness and smooth suede-like texture make it our most luxurious card stock. A distinct malleable feel paired with its unique surface texture will have people convinced this stock is made of exquisite suede.

How often are these produced?
The print schedule is available on the right of this page. This product is run approximately every two weeks.
Can I have colour printing on the Premium Black?
We do not print ink onto the premium black (as it will not show) – the only way to add colour to the cards is with a foil, various colours available.
If you choose W1S cards – the printing on the white side will be Premium Digital Output full-colour CMYK. For offset on the white side of your W1S card, please place a custom quote request.
What foil colours can I select from?
The following metallic foils are available with these cards: Silver, Gold, Black, White or Ruby – samples available from our offices.
If you have a custom foil colour (including matte or specialty foils) please request your custom quote here.
Will an emboss show through to the back of the card?
With a W1S card, the embossing will not show on the opposite side of the card – however for a standard card, the embossing will show on the back.
Can I request Premium Black samples?
Samples of all our Premium Black products can currently be viewed at any of our locations. Premium Black sample packs will also be available for distribution in August 2012. Check our website, Twitter or Facebook pages for details. Please note there will be a $10 fee to receive these sample packs. They will include a $10 coupon that can be applied to your next Premium Black order.
How do I set up the files for the Premium Black cards?
There is no ink/printing on the black card, solid foiling or embossing only. Artwork setup is the same as for a Spot UV file – black and white only, areas in black will be embossed/foiled and white areas will not be. You will need to supply separate files for each emboss or foil on the front and back.
Please name your files accordingly "Front_EMBOSS.pdf"; "Front_FOIL(silver).pdf" etc.
For W1S cards, the colour artwork will be set up the same way as a regular CMYK artwork. Please see our Help page for further details.
What is the final thickness of the W1S cards?
These are double-mounted (2 ply) cards. The thickness of these cards can be calculated by adding the two paper stocks together (for example "W1S with 16pt Midnight Black and 17pt Bright White uncoated" will have a final thickness of 33pt).
Which black card stock is most water resistant?
As these card stocks are all uncoated they are not resistant to water. To add a small amount of water resistance you can apply a clear foil over large portions of the card.
Can two foil colours overlap?
Two foil colours can overlap, but the top foil will knock out the foil underneath (the foil colour underneath will not be visible).
Can I add Spot UV or UV Gloss to my Premium Black Card?
Spot UV is only available on our 16PT Smooth Matte Laminate or 14PT Semi Gloss card stock – it is not available on uncoated paper (such as the Premium Black range). A clear foil will give a similar effect to a Spot UV on your Premium Black card.
What other Products are available with the Premium Black range?
What other premium finishes are available with the Premium Black range?
Yes, the following options are available with Premium Black:
Custom Shape (die cut)
Cotton and Linen card stock (as W1S)
3, 4, 5 or more ply cards (layered cards)
How eco-friendly is the Premium Black range?
The Premium Black range has been developed keeping sustainability and the environment in mind. All of the card stocks contain a minimum of 30% recycled content.
What designs will have the best impact on my Premium Black cards?
Premium Black cards are about look and feel. Our designers suggest keeping the details on the card to a bare minimum for maximum impact. Fine details and text are not legible in embossing, so we recommend very large sizes for any embossed text.
